Keani

Keani's journey in dance began at the tender age of three on the beautiful island of Guam, where a captivating mother-daughter dance sparked her passion for movement. After relocating to Orlando, she continued to nurture her love for dance, performing with various groups until she turned 14, when she joined the hālau, deepening her connection to her heritage.

Keani made her competitive debut as a soloist in 2009, impressively securing 1st place at just eight years old. Her dedication and talent shone through as she competed again in 2014, achieving 1st place in group kahiko at the age of 13. She further showcased her skills as a soloist in both kahiko and ‘auana categories in 2018, earning a commendable 2nd place, and celebrated another victory in 2019 with a 1st place finish in group ‘auana. After a brief hiatus, Keani returned to the Hālau and proudly became an Alaka’i in 2025.

Beyond her dancing prowess, Keani is also a gifted musician, lending her voice and skills on the ukulele and cello to support fellow competitors and participate in school performances. She dedicated seven years to studying the cello, excelling in solo and ensemble competitions at both the county and state levels, where she received superior ratings on two occasions.

Keani's journey is a testament to her passion, resilience, and artistic spirit, as she continues to inspire others through her dance and music.
